In August 2019, Chrysler released its Voyager minivan. Though the name is hardly a new one, the vehicle bearing it is optimized for Dayton families of today. But what exactly is the Voyager, and how does it differ from Chrysler’s Pacifica?

What is the Chrysler Voyager?

In the past few years, Dodge has announced that it will end production on many of its minivans, such as the Grand Caravan and the Journey. Luckily for Iowa drivers, Dodge’s loss is a gain for its sister brand.

Chrysler announced the release of the Voyager starting in the 2019 model year. This new minivan offers families a cheaper, simpler option than the brand’s currently existing Pacifica. Offering two different minivans allows Chrysler to focus on developing new distinctive features and luxury on Pacifica models while providing non-luxury drivers with a stable, effective option.

What Does the Voyager Offer Ohio Families?

Though the Voyager name is a throwback to the Plymouth Voyager of old, the modern vehicle has today’s families in mind. The Voyager retains the Pacifica’s 3.6-liter V6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. However, unlike with the Pacifica, there is no hybrid Voyager option. Also, features such as second-row Stow ‘n Go seating are only available on the Pacifica.

As a low-cost offering, the Voyager does not have many advanced driver assistance features. However, there is a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apple and Android connectivity are included throughout the lineup, but SiriusXM compatibility costs extra. Features do include a six-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation, as well as Bluetooth streaming and integrated voice control. Other upgrades include additional driver assists and a rear-seat DVD player.

Voyager or Pacifica – Which Works for Your Family?

At its heart, the Chrysler Voyager is a simple minivan that can serve Ohio families. Though it may not offer much driver assistance features, or even the Pacifica’s popular Stow ‘n Go capability, the Voyager promises to make a place for itself in today’s Ohio garages.
