With carmakers around the world releasing ambitious new electrification plans, it was only a matter of time before Chrysler, Dodge, JeepⓇ and RAM announced their visions of an electrified future. The race to electrification is not surprising, as electric vehicles offer both performance and environmental benefits for consumers and communities. Yet each automaker has promised to go about making the switch from gas to electric in its own unique way. So what can Dayton drivers expect out of their favorite brands?

At Evans Arena, we are proud to bring the best in American automotive design and innovation to drivers in and around Vandalia, Ohio. And of course, we believe that innovation does not have to stop at the factory. CDJR Electrification Strategies

The Chrysler, Dodge, JeepⓇ and RAM brands are all part of the 14-marque Stellantis conglomerate. Each Stellantis constituent brand has developed a strategy to bring fully electric vehicles to drivers over the next few years. This article highlights the strategies chosen by some of the most popular brands in Trotwood.

Electric Chrysler

The Chrysler brand has already made great strides towards electrification, having offered a plug-in hybrid version of its popular Pacifica minivan since 2017. But as an automaker with a small lineup, it will be interesting to see how Chrysler includes full electrification in its future expansion plans.

Electric Dodge Vehicles

The Dodge brand’s decision to offer a battery-electric model by the 2024 model year is a very significant development in automotive electrification. While Dodge has traditionally been an expert at producing high-performance gas engines, the automaker is seeking to experiment with the increased responsiveness that an electric motor provides. And with Dodge’s distinguished history of innovation, Dayton drivers can look forward to further groundbreaking experimentation in the field of electric performance vehicles.

The new battery-electric Dodge vehicle is expected to use the automaker’s STLA Large performance platform, which is designed for all-wheel-drive and performance vehicles. If this is the case, than the vehicle will offer a battery pack that is slightly larger than 100 kWh, with roughly 500 miles of range available on a single charge.

Electric JeepⓇ

Like Chrysler, JeepⓇ is another brand that had previously developed an ambitious electrification strategy. The brand’s Wrangler 4xe with a plug-in hybrid powertrain has already found space in dealer lots. A 4xe version of the Compass and Renegade are expected to follow soon.

Yet JeepⓇ plans to go even further with its battery-electric Wrangler Freedom, expected to hit dealerships in 2025. Eventually, all JeepⓇ models should offer a battery-electric powertrain. And the brand is also investing in other associated technologies such as solar-powered charging stations on popular off-road trails and vehicle-to-vehicle direct charging.

Electric RAM Trucks

Perhaps the most significant RAM electrification offering will be the battery-electric powertrain available on the 2024 RAM 1500. This vehicle is expected to use the STLA Frame platform, which will offer drivers 500 miles of range, as well as fast charging and quick acceleration.

On the commercial side, RAM will explore the development of a fuel-cell driven midsized commercial van. And with plans for eight new vehicles being released in 3-5 years, the automaker has plenty of opportunities for further electrification.

Other Initiatives

JeepⓇ is not the only brand experimenting beyond electric vehicles themselves. The eventual goal of Stellantis is to have 98% of its lineup with an electrified option by 2025. By 2030, the brand wants 40% of its US and 70% of its European sales as fully electric vehicles. Stellantis is also developing plans for two American factories which would make batteries and other electric powertrain components.

Conclusion

The Chrysler, Dodge, JeepⓇ and RAM brands that Dayton drivers love each have a long legacy of exciting and practical innovation. And as the global automotive market shifts towards electrification, these brands are ready to discover powerful new solutions to the next generation of challenges. And at Evans Arena, we are eager to give Troy-area residents firsthand experience with the future of car buying.

Meet the Brothers

Despite its history of excellence with crafting four-wheel vehicles, the Dodge brand actually got its start with bicycles. Brothers John Francis and Horace Dodge opened Evans and Dodge Bicycles with a partner in 1896. The company soon became famous for its innovative dirt-resistant ball bearings, a concept patented by Horace.

They would eventually shift from making bicycles to making car parts for companies with well-known names such as Ford and Olds. In 1913, the brothers opened the Dodge Brothers Motor Car Company. Throughout these years, the brothers crafted well-made vehicles built on the same innovative spirit that had always run through the brand. The first Dodge vehicle the Model 30, was released in 1914. The Model 30 made its mark as the first ever all-steel touring car. The vehicle ran on a four-cylinder engine and made 35 horsepower.

The Dodge brothers both died in 1920. Five years later, Chrysler purchased the company, which was the second largest American automaker at the time. This partnership still exists today.

Innovation and Excitement

In the 1930’s, Chrysler used the Dodge name to produce innovative, practical family vehicles boasting exclusive new features such as rustproof bodies and independent front suspensions. By 1935, the brand had produced three million vehicles and was eager to build more.

Like all other automakers in the 1940’s, Dodge halted production of passenger cars to focus on making military equipment for World War II. Along with tanks and planes, Dodge made 150 cars for the armed forces to use. The automaker’s military ambulance would become the inspiration for a line of commercial trucks after the war.

After the war, Dodge achieved booming successes, releasing new exciting models and gaining adherents across the country. The first Dodge Charger concept was released in 1964, with the Challenger rolling off production lines in 1970. But perhaps the highlight of this era was when Richard Petty won the Daytona 500 in February 1974 behind the wheel of a Charger! This event cemented the brand as an American performance legend, and created a new legacy for Dodge vehicles.

In 1981, Dodge gained ownership of the RAM Truck brand. RAM evolved as a division of Dodge until it became its own brand in 1994.

Today, Dodge offers drivers vehicles built with the same spirit of innovation and performance that motivated John Francis and Horace all those years ago. Its small yet mighty lineup of powerful performance cars and SUVs captures the essence of American driving culture and is popular with buyers from sea to shining sea.

Conclusion

From 1914 to 2021 and beyond, Dodge has sought to redefine what customers could expect from their vehicles. The Dodge story is complex, ranging from bicycles to pickup trucks and from war to racing, but the legacy of the Dodge brothers lives on. And today, Dodge dealers all over the United States are ready to help their customers write the next great chapter in American automotive history.

At-home test drives have exploded in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, these test drives served as a lifeline for dealerships facing pandemic-related restrictions. Yet at-home test drives soon spread and have proven their worth to car buyers all across America. Many dealers now offer at-home test drives, though far too many customers fail to make the best use of them. Trotwood shoppers should remember that at-home test drives offer unique opportunities for exploring whether a desired vehicle fits the prospective buyer’s lifestyle. This article discusses tips on how to take the greatest advantage from an at-home test drive.

At Evans Arena, we have long sought to make car buying easier for our customers. From affordable financing to VIP Exclusive benefits to Employee Pricing Plus, our dealership offers customers plenty of options for a smooth purchase process. And with 24-hour home test drives, we give our customers another way to explore their preferred vehicles with no commitment and no obligation. Contact us for details.

Why Test Drive at Home?

Trotwood car buyers know that the test drive is an integral part of buying a car. A test drive allows Dayton customers to explore the capabilities of the vehicle and examine its condition. Test drives also allow Ohio shoppers to compare different vehicles in real-world driving scenarios.

In a world of online shopping and increased focus on disease transmission, many Vandalia drivers have moved much of their purchasing activity to the Internet. Yet the traditional test drive requires a visit to a dealership, and perhaps extended time in the car with a sales representative. Thus, the standard model of a test drive seems unsuited for a world that increasingly depends on online transactions. In response, dealers have developed home test drives, allowing customers to experience a vehicle before buying it while not requiring a visit to the showroom.

The home test drive process is simple. Drivers choose the vehicle they want to test, often online or on an app. They can also easily schedule the day and time at which they want the test drive to take place. After taking care of the necessary paperwork online, the dealer delivers the car to the driver’s home or work address. The driver can then explore the car’s features and capabilities before returning it back to a prearranged point.

Home Test Drive Tips

The at-home test drive gives the customer some unique opportunities. Most test drives focus on exploring how the vehicle and its various components work. Yet at-home test drives let shoppers explore how the vehicle fits into their daily life. In this way, at-home test drives give potential buyers a more in-depth perspective on whether the vehicle is right for them.

On a standard test drive, Kettering drivers may try to explore how well the vehicle fits into a standard parking space. But at home, drivers can check how well their vehicle fits into their garage. Also, Trotwood residents with difficult or obstructed driveways can experience how well their potential new vehicle handles such situations and how much it restricts access to other items in their garages.

Some Dayton drivers often carry items such as instrument cases or bulky equipment in their vehicles. If so, an at-home test drive is the perfect opportunity to examine how these items fit in their cars. And families with squirrely children enjoy the ability to have their little ones check out the back seats while not having to haul the kids all the way down to the dealership.

Dealerships such as Evans Arena often offer 24-hour home test drives. If circumstances allow for it, a 24-hour home test drive is a great opportunity to check features such as headlight visibility. And at certain times of year, Dayton customers can explore how well their vehicle performs on cold Ohio mornings.

Explore the Future of Car Buying at Evans Arena

At-home test drives provide an extra set of opportunities for Troy drivers. Ohio vehicle shoppers get to go beyond testing if the vehicle fits their budget or basic criteria and focus on whether it fits their life. And with online shopping becoming increasingly significant in many different fields, consumers need to understand how to get the most out of their online test drive.

At Evans Arena CDJR, we are proud of the many ways in which we have made the vehicle buying experience easy for Ohio drivers. What is the 2021 Grand Cherokee L?

The 2021 JeepⓇ Grand Cherokee L kicks off a new phase of development for the brand. This vehicle, as well as the upcoming Grand Wagoneer, will provide Dayton families with the three-row JeepⓇ option they have long missed. And these vehicles show Troy drivers what future JeepⓇ offerings, including the redesigned 2022 standard Grand Cherokee, will look like in physical form.

Choice is at the heart of the Grand Cherokee L. The vehicle offers seating for up to seven people or over 17 cubic feet of cargo room. Drivers can select from two different engine options, including a 357-horsepower V8. Though rear-wheel drive is standard, buyers can choose between three different four-wheel drive options.

The Grand Cherokee L is available in six different trims, starting with the Laredo and culminating with the Summit Reserve. Serious off-road fans should consider the Overland trim with its available Off-Road Group package. This configuration carries the automaker’s prestigious Trail Rated badge, demonstrating mastery of a series of difficult off-road based tests.

Yet even with its new looks, the 2021 Grand Cherokee L is as capable as ever. An adaptive suspension system helps the Grand Cherokee L reduce drag on the highway or maintain high ground clearance during low-speed off-roading. And when properly configured, the Grand Cherokee L offers 7,200 pounds of towing capacity.

Grand Cherokee L Interior and Technology

The six trims on the Grand Cherokee L all provide space for three rows of seating, either with standard second-row captain’s chairs or an available bench seat. Fine leather and wood accents are available on upper trims. Apple, Android and SiriusXM connectivity are standard infotainment features. Wireless connectivity is available.

Unlike its two-row model year cousin, the Grand Cherokee L provides a large assortment of standard active driver assistance features. These include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and automated emergency braking with cyclist detection. Combined with the three years of complementary scheduled maintenance included in the manufacturer’s warranty, the SUV’s ease of driving and ownership offers a promising future for both the JeepⓇ brand and Dayton families.

2021 Grand Cherokee L – The Bold Future of Jeep Vehicles

The 2021 JeepⓇ Grand Cherokee L promises an exciting, upscale future for Dayton families. With three rows of seats and ample cargo space, the Grand Cherokee L provides the convenience that Trotwood families have long sought in the JeepⓇ lineup. And with an abundance of standard safety features, Troy-area families will easily conquer whatever life throws at them, both on and off the road.

In August 2019, Chrysler released its Voyager minivan. Though the name is hardly a new one, the vehicle bearing it is optimized for Dayton families of today. But what exactly is the Voyager, and how does it differ from Chrysler’s Pacifica?

At Evans Arena Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, we understand that the modern world is a difficult place. That is why we help make life easier for our customers with our VIP Exclusive benefits. All of our customers enjoy perks such as a trade-in bonus, two free oil changes and free new car ding removals. But we don’t stop there. What is the Chrysler Voyager?

In the past few years, Dodge has announced that it will end production on many of its minivans, such as the Grand Caravan and the Journey. Luckily for Iowa drivers, Dodge’s loss is a gain for its sister brand.

Chrysler announced the release of the Voyager starting in the 2019 model year. This new minivan offers families a cheaper, simpler option than the brand’s currently existing Pacifica. Offering two different minivans allows Chrysler to focus on developing new distinctive features and luxury on Pacifica models while providing non-luxury drivers with a stable, effective option.

What Does the Voyager Offer Ohio Families?

Though the Voyager name is a throwback to the Plymouth Voyager of old, the modern vehicle has today’s families in mind. The Voyager retains the Pacifica’s 3.6-liter V6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. However, unlike with the Pacifica, there is no hybrid Voyager option. Also, features such as second-row Stow ‘n Go seating are only available on the Pacifica.

As a low-cost offering, the Voyager does not have many advanced driver assistance features. However, there is a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apple and Android connectivity are included throughout the lineup, but SiriusXM compatibility costs extra. Features do include a six-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation, as well as Bluetooth streaming and integrated voice control. Other upgrades include additional driver assists and a rear-seat DVD player.

Voyager or Pacifica – Which Works for Your Family?

At its heart, the Chrysler Voyager is a simple minivan that can serve Ohio families. Though it may not offer much driver assistance features, or even the Pacifica’s popular Stow ‘n Go capability, the Voyager promises to make a place for itself in today’s Ohio garages.

Dayton, Ohio, truck drivers value the RAM 1500 for its strong performance in a wide variety of situations. Yet while some drivers may have driven RAM trucks for a while, others may just now be eying their first. Drivers who have heard about, but never owned, RAM trucks and are interested in experiencing RAM-level performance for themselves may want to know just how pricey the vehicles are. How much does it cost to enjoy the power, reliability and comfort of a RAM vehicle? How expensive is a RAM 1500, really?

When you buy a RAM 1500, you are buying far more than just a work truck. And when you buy a RAM 1500 from Evans Arena, you are doing far more than just buying a work truck. With VIP Exclusive benefits, Evans Arena prides itself on providing the same wide-ranging caliber of service that is available on its most popular pickup trucks. Benefits include two free oil changes, Manicure Mondays and a $750 future trade-in bonus. And remember, just like with the RAM 1500, nobody beats Evans Arena … Nobody!

Why is the RAM 1500 So Popular?

The RAM 1500 lineup is well known for its performance in a wide range of areas. From contractors to suburban families, many people view the RAM 1500 as the vehicle most able to fulfill their needs.

The RAM 1500 lineup is designed with these expectations in mind. The 1500 family contains a range of models, trims and options for drivers in a wide variety of situations. Perhaps a driver needs the 12,750-pound towing capacity of the available 5.7-liter V8 hybrid engine. Maybe another driver needs the 702 horsepower, Launch Control and off-road reinforcement of the 1500 TRX. Someone else may pick the distinctive leather interiors of such vehicles as the Limited or Limited Longhorn. Another driver may need the power, efficiency and longevity that only a diesel engine can provide. Whatever Trotwood drivers need in their pickup truck, the RAM 1500 lineup can probably serve it.

RAM knows that the modern pickup truck must boast strong payload capacities, high fuel efficiency ratings and fine interior materials. This is why the entire 1500 lineup earned Truck of the Year status from MotorTrend magazine back in 2019. And with the TRX bolting off production lines in 2021, the magazine added the new model to the ranks of the champions.

How Much Does the RAM 1500 Cost?

As a versatile vehicle with plenty of options, it is hardly surprising that the RAM 1500 exists in a broad range of prices. The base Tradesman starts at slightly over $30,000, with the top-tier Limited trim selling for twice that amount. And for those who need to spend more to get unparalleled off-road performance, the 2021 1500 TRX sells for over $70,000.

Buyers seeking RAM-level performance at a lower cost should consider a used RAM 1500. Modern vehicle technology lets trucks perform in ways that prior generations would have considered impossible. Therefore, trucks that are only a few years old will often serve the needs of their drivers perfectly well. And the strong build and tough profile of RAM trucks ensures that these vehicles often last for decades.

Conclusion

The RAM 1500 lineup is well-known for boasting vehicles which excel in many situations. From strong used vehicles to tow-happy workhorses to refined rides, the RAM 1500 lineup offers something for practically everyone. Since different RAM 1500 vehicles have a unique character and special strengths, it is not surprising that the cost of a RAM 1500 varies across the lineup. Depending on trim level, new vehicles can cost anywhere from around $30,000 to over $70,000. And high-quality used RAM trucks are available for far less.

Evans Arena is proud to bring new and used vehicles to Dayton-area drivers. Trotwood residents can benefit from our affordable financing options and friendly service center. And with our VIP Exclusive benefits, Troy shoppers get far more than just a truck. Visit us at 924 Shiloh Springs Road in Dayton, Ohio, or call us at (937) 802-2449 to learn more or to schedule a test drive on our exclusive 4×4 track.
